Naruto and Bleach were never really hip, cool anime. Naruto expired past like the first cour. So it sounds like you're out of touch period.

The anime community has gotten more picky with anime. It changed a lot while you gone. Shifting from childhood anime like you said to waifu war :o

Just start watching anime again. If the new series are different in a bad way, from what you remember, just find a new hobby.

And this is a bad thing because? Live in ignorance of the glory days, I say.
Go ahead, reply. I'm not going to read it.

If it makes you feel any better, there are a handful of us who are out of touch because we hardly follow seasonal anime, and prefer to watch older, more classic anime. I am a very active anime watcher and I would definitely fail at knowing who the current popular characters are.

I just found out about Love is War through this post...

If you’ve gotten older, it’s harder to keep up with trends and seasonal anime. If you wanna really be in the anime community then you gotta do it.

Or you could just chill out on the back porch with the rest of us old anime heads.

Why does being in touch even mater? I haven't watched seasonals in ages and I enjoy my time with anime much more now because I stopped watching seasonals lol.

so you can feel like you a part of the community. humans crave to be a part of groups.

I am like rogue traveler in the sahara desert, dressed in an old hooded robe, traveling with my cane and lone anime dvd, one I have seen a hundred times. I wonder what civilizations watch, and keep walking with a tear in my eye, from crying from the one anime I have seen a hundred times...

It is the anime community that is out of touch. Try posting a random Pic of this year's season, they'll immediately find it
Try posting a pic of an old classic and popular series, especially one not subbed into English and no one will bother or know what it is.

I do agree that there are anime out there deserving in popularity on this website. The WMT from what I remember is largely left unsubbed. Even more popular ones such as Sazae-san, or unpopular ones such as Ouban Star Racers... the list goes on. I do feel like a lot of people aren't just gonna broaden their horizons, or learn Japanese for anime they don't care about.

stuff like Key the Metal Idol? I'm young, but when it comes to anime I've still not watched most of the new or popular stuff. lol

You can be part of communities without watching seasonals. I talk to plenty of anime fans and am in plenty of groups and can talk about a wide variety of shows and genres. But honestly you sound like you are trolling with that response xD
